MAP International’s parent company, Inter-Governmental Postal Consultants(www.igpc.net), began serving governments in Africa in 1957, partnering to create what was then a new communications technology: a reliable mail system. Today, over fifty years later, IGPC still partners with what is now the majority of African and developing nation governments—70 in total. MAP International is committed to carrying on this tradition of partnership and progress.

MAP was launched in early 2007 as an expansion of our sister company MAPCash (www.MAPcash.com), creator of the first prepaid debit card in the Carribbean. What we learned about the needs of MAPCash’s underserved market—and the capabilities of today’s and tomorrow’s technology—led us to aim for larger solutions—life-changing services that could help lift all underserved people out of poverty. We concluded that nothing short of a profound transformation of developing nations’ banking systems could accomplish this goal.
